Episode 9 of the East Texan Athletic covers a player and coach moving on to further their careers. Former Livingston volleyball and softball head coach Christina Jaques discusses her choice to accept the head coaching position in softball at Santa Fe, while Trinity’s Mallory Stout details her decision on colleges and future at Centenary in Shreveport.
Departing Big Sandy coach Jacob Hooker stops by the office just after the school’s second baseball state championship in as many years. He discusses his reasons for taking a new position in Fort Worth and picking out championship rings.
There is also a conversation with assistant baseball coach and school superintendent Mark Brown of Centerville in Trinity County. The Bulldogs played an eight-game outlaw schedule in the spring and have plans for continuing the program.
Episode 7 of the East Texan Athletic covers coaches and athletes juggling schedules and wearing multiple hats at a small school. Interviewed are a softball coach that doubles as the school nurse, a baseball coach that is also the school’s head groundskeeper and a pastor on Sundays, and an athlete that will be at the state track meet and compete in playoff softball in one busy weekend.

last season. They are looking for a repeat this year, with the

Episode 5 of the East Texan Athletic includes interviews with two athletic directors. One discusses his talents as a playwright and the school becoming pioneers for 6 man football in East Texas. The other talks about his relationship with a former athletic director before his passing.
Coach Christina Jaques discusses changing the culture in Livingston volleyball and softball, and her offseason adventures in the Independent Women’s Football League. Also, Lady Lion softball catcher Bailey Bowers talks about her college choice, her team, and the harassment her coach receives from the girls.
